Frequently Asked Questions
How does my daughter join the Girl Guides?
Contact the national office by phone or email and tell us where you are based. We will point you to a Guide unit near you, or advise on starting one at your school or in your community. You are welcome to visit a unit and meet the leaders before registering.
What does it cost to join?
Costs are set locally by each unit and cover registration and materials, and camps carry their own fee - National Camp 2026, for example, is Ugx 15,000. Please ask us or your nearest unit for current figures. If cost is a barrier, tell us: we would rather find a way than lose a Guide.
How can I volunteer as a leader?
Volunteers are the backbone of guiding in Uganda. You will need references and safeguarding checks, and a willingness to complete leader training - we provide the training and ongoing support. Get in touch and we will talk you through the next intake.
How do units register for National Camp?
Camp details - dates, venue and fees - are shared with district commissioners and published on our events page. Units register through their district commissioner; if you are unsure who yours is, contact the national office.
How do I report a safeguarding concern?
Contact the national office immediately by phone on +256 414 699330 or by email. Concerns about the safety or welfare of a child are treated as urgent and handled under our child safeguarding policy.
