Every unit in Uganda runs because an adult gives it their time. You do not need to have been a Guide - we train you.

Ways to volunteer

Not every role is a weekly commitment. Tell us what you can give and we will match you to a unit or district that needs it.

Weekly, term time
Unit leader
Run the weekly meeting for a unit of Guides - planning the programme with them, and being the adult who makes it happen.
As often as suits you
Unit helper
Support a leader without taking the unit on yourself. Many helpers go on to lead once they have seen how a unit works.
A few days a year
Camp and event volunteer
Help at National Camp, district events and training days. The right role if you have skills to lend but not a weekly evening.
Occasional
Committee and trainer
Serve on a district committee, train new leaders, or bring professional skills - finance, safeguarding, transport - to the association.

Tell us where you are
Get in touch with the national office with your district and how much time you can give.

Visit a unit
Sit in on a meeting before you commit to anything, and meet the leader and the Guides.

References and checks
Every adult in guiding is vetted. We take up references and complete safeguarding checks before you work with girls.

Training and your first term
Complete leader training, then start alongside an experienced leader rather than on your own.
