Empowering Youth on Climate Action Project

Through the Empowering Youth on Climate Action Project, UGGA has successfully mobilized a grassroots movement for environmental sustainability across Kashumba, Rugaaga, and the Nakivaale Refugee Settlement. By training 232 youth and 27 Guide Leaders on climate mitigation, we have established 56 active advocacy groups and 10 school-based environment clubs. Our hands-on impact includes planting nearly 10,000 trees, launching three plastic collection centers, and conducting 25 community clean-ups. To promote food security and clean energy, we’ve established 119 backyard gardens and eight model homes demonstrating energy-saving stoves. This project has not only equipped 100 youth with green skills like paper-bag making but has also reached over 3,400 community members through a powerful network of peer trainers and strategic partnerships with local leaders and humanitarian agencies.
