WAGGGS initiative

YESS Girls’ Movement

UGGA actively participates in the YESS Girls’ Movement (Youth Exchange South to South), an international flagship exchange program developed by WAGGGS in partnership with NOREC (the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation). Affectionately dubbed the “journey of a lifetime,” this initiative empowers young Ugandan women aged 18 to 35 to live, work, and volunteer in other member nations across Africa and the Asia-Pacific region for six months. Through this cross-cultural immersion, Ugandan participants cultivate robust leadership skills, champion community-driven advocacy campaigns like “Yes! Girls Can,” and master operational strategies from global sister associations. Upon returning home, these empowered alumni join the Alumnae pool to inject fresh, diverse perspectives into local guiding frameworks, driving UGGA’s mission to foster resilient, vocal, and globally connected female leaders who tackle regional issues from gender inequality to climate change.
