WAGGGS initiative

Girl Led Action on Climate Change (GLACC)

We actively implement the GLACC program to position young women at the forefront of environmental advocacy. Developed by WAGGGS, this initiative empowers participants with the critical thinking skills needed to analyze local climate risks and champion grass-roots environmental solutions. Across target regions like Gulu, Wakiso, and Jinja, UGGA’s national trainers host community cleanups, establish school recycling systems, and plant trees to combat plastic pollution and deforestation. Crucially, the GLACC curriculum focuses heavily on peer education, training students across dozens of local schools to understand how shifting weather patterns uniquely threaten the health, education, and safety of girls and young women. By driving sustainable practices and supporting national green interventions, the GLACC team ensures that Uganda’s youth possess both the confidence and tools to build a climate-resilient future.
